alembic of the moral, political and scientific teaching

of the West and come forth, not Europeanized, not

Americanized, but embellished and enriched by assimila-

tion of all that the East can profitably learn from

the West".

These are the high ideals by which the

University of Hong Kong is inspired. The grant of £265,000 will be of substantial assistance in bringing

them to fulfilment.
